Oscar Burres Family Home (1908-1909) - Raymond, Nebraska
Floyd, Arletta, Merle, Paul, Oscar, Peter Bures and Harriet Pittman. Raymond Parsonage.
"Here at Raymond is the only time I can ever remember Grandpa Bures visiting his preacher son and family. (Note: There is a photo of
the parsonage in Raymond with Arletta, Oscar, Peter Bures and Harriet Pittman standing behind the fence, while the three small boys
are standing in the gateway.) He was getting old now and had somewhat relented from the harsh treatment and opposition to the
ministry which he had dealt out to father I suppose. At any rate he came and stayed two or three days and actually made the folks a
present of a good Seth Thomas 8 day mantel clock which they used from then on until fathers death and the resultant break-up in
housekeeping. I believe Paul has it now. Oh yes, he brought we boys a small sack of cheap candy and I believe gave us a nickel
apiece in cash. It wasn't too many years after this, February 7, 1910, that he died at the ripe old age of 84. Grandmother Bures had
preceeded him in death some couple of years. Father attended both funerals I believe, but I can not recall that mother or we boys went
along."
